Dental Implants

For patients with tooth loss, dental implants can complete their smiles in a lasting and natural way. An implant is a slender titanium post that substitutes for the root of the natural tooth which was lost. A porcelain crown attaches to this implant.

Here’s how a dental implant procedure is done:
  • The strength of the bone where the tooth was lost is verified.
  • The implant is carefully placed in this bone.
  • The implant heals and bonds to the bone over the next few months.
  • When healing is complete, a porcelain crown is created to match the patient’s natural teeth
  • This crown is securely attached to the implant.

Implants Function Like Natural Teeth

A dental implant only needs to be brushed and flossed like a regular tooth, and cared for regularly by a dentist. If you need to replace one or more missing teeth, please come see us. Let’s find out if a dental implant is right for you.

After an Implant

Due to the anesthetics, you should have someone drive you home after implant surgery. The anesthetic will wear off within a couple of hours and you should have your pain relief medications ready.

Your surgical site may ooze blood for as long as 48 hours. Most people return to work the day after implant surgery, but some might need a day or two to rest.
